It’s no surprise that the best tacos we had in Mexico City were eaten on the street. Personally, I love traveling to places where street food is plentiful. Not only are your chances for eating something amazing very high, but the value for dollar is equally exciting. Coming from California, where everything is expensive, the…
Another Great Restaurant in CDMX’s Roma Norte
One of our most standout restaurant meals was from Paramo. Located in Roma Norte, Mexico City, Paramo is nestled in what seems to be an old residential building. It is entirely unassuming from the outside. You would have no idea of the many rooms and corridors bustling with food runners carrying wide trays above their…
Mexico City’s Rosetta
One of my favorite things about Mexico City is that restaurant ambiance is taken seriously. There are countless beautiful spaces to eat and drink at. In many of the neighborhoods, the colonial and classical architecture of the city remains, and many of the most beautiful restaurants we saw were found in these timeless structures. So much…
The Bay and Beyond: Two weeks of restaurants
A beautiful restaurant, inside and out. It has such a hearthy, rustic and intimate vibe inside. It’s low-lit and cozy. There are two bars with seating- an alcohol bar and an open-fire cooking bar where you can watch spits of meat rotate and pizza dough spin.
I Finally Went to Wingen Bakery in Livermore, CA
What stood out at first was their use of sourdough and semolina wheat for bread and bagels and of course their use of free-range eggs. It’s nice to find a bakery that chooses their ingredients thoughtfully.
Tsukiji Fish Market
The smells are many, the obvious is clear (seafood!) but there’s nuance. The intoxicating smell of open-flame grilled crab, lobster, eel, shrimp, and oysters, is so sweet and briny; I imagine a blow torch aimed at the bottom of the ocean.
Shinjuku’s Ramen Takahashi
I managed to get from Okinawa to my hotel in Tokyo with little to no hiccups. My first trial came when I was looking for Ramen Takahashi. I must have walked by it ten times, so be warned! Unless I never actually ended up at the correct place, or the storefront name just doesn’t match…
Japanese Convenience Store Fried Chicken Mission
As an American, the idea of eating anything other than a pack of skittles or some Hot Cheetos from a convenience store is heresy. On reflection, I think that characterization is less an ‘American’ thing, and more a ‘me’ thing. I know someone eats those slowly rotating sausages at 7-11, but it has never been…
My Secret Restaurant Love Revealed
I love this restaurant so much I want to keep it secret. Is that selfish? It probably is. This restaurant in Livermore, Ca is a gem. Their menu reflects an emphasis on local, seasonal, and free-range. It’s pretty much the only real farm-to-table restaurant for miles. They change elements of their menu very often, some…
My Overview of the Dublin Food Scene, and Everywhere I Ate
Dublin’s food scene is burgeoning. I think it was the biggest reason I had decided to go. I kept reading how full of great food it is, how much potential they have due to their agriculture capacity. The swing towards diverse and refined dining options in Dublin has been a fairly recent movement. I’ve read…
